What is Agriculture?

Agriculture alludes to the human movement of developing crops and farms for the production of food and products like fibers, animal feed, and so on. Agri meaning the land and culture mean to develop or tend.

Types of Farming

1. Subsistence Farming-Subsistence cultivating crops are those crops that are developed basically for the ranchers family need.

2. Commercial Farming-Commercial cultivating crops are those crops that are developed to sell them in the market.

Cropping Pattern

The cropping pattern implies there are various methods of developing/growing crops. These various ways can be utilized to give the greatest maximum advantage.

Cropping season

India has three cropping seasons those are:

1. Kharif

2. Zaid

3. Rabi

Classifications of Crops in India

1. Foodgrains

2. Commercial Crops

3. Plantation Crops

4. Horticulture

Food Grains

These crops are utilized for human utilization/consumption.

Major crops are taken in these categories which are Rice, Wheat, Maize, Millets, Pulses, and Oil seeds.

Commercial Grains

The crops are grown to get the benefits like to sell in the market. In this category, the crops are totally developed/grown or semi-processed.

Major crops are taken in these categories which are Cotton, Jute, Sugarcane, Tobacco, and Oilseeds.

Plantation Crops

The crops which are developed on a ranch on covering huge estate        

Major crops are taken in these categories which are Tea, Coffee, Coconut, and Rubber

Horticulture

It is a Part of agriculture in which vegetables and fruits are grown.
